Stormwood - Marsanne 2022
The 2022 Single Estate Marsanne is a rich, textural white wine sourced from a small, organically grown vineyard on Waiheke Island.
The growing season was nearly perfect, with fruit picked earlier than previous years, allowing it to reach optimal ripeness without weather stress.
Hand-harvested in late February, the fruit was gently whole-bunch pressed into French oak barriques, with 33% of the barrels being new. After a period of lees contact, the wine was racked, blended, and bottled. The result is a beautifully crafted wine with notes of stone fruit, beeswax, and subtle hints of honeysuckle. The use of barrel fermentation has enhanced the wine’s distinctive varietal aromas, creating a textured and elegant style.

Stormwood Wine is the collaborative project of Waiheke Island winemakers Heinrich Storm and Michael Wood, along with their trusty site foreman, Nui the wonder dog, who ensures the team stays on track.
Mike brings experience from one of the island’s ultra-premium producers, Obsidian Vineyards, while Heinrich comes from the renowned Goldie Estate, a pioneering vineyard on Waiheke.
With over 12 years of winemaking together and a combined 30 years of experience on the island, they have cultivated strong relationships with top growers and landowners, ensuring access to the best grape parcels each vintage.
